ABOUT

AL MALAIKAH SHRINERS MUSEUM

Founded in 1872, the Shriners are an international fraternity dedicated to fellowship, philanthropy, and community service. Their most significant charitable endeavor, Shriners Children's, has provided specialized pediatric care for more than a century, treating children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate, and other complex medical needs regardless of a family's ability to pay. In Southern California, Shriners Children's Southern California has served thousands of children and families while advancing pediatric research, education, and compassionate care throughout the region.

The Shriners Museum is a collaborative initiative between the Shriners, the University of Southern California (USC), and the ISET Agency to preserve and share this remarkable legacy. Located within the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the museum will catalogue, conserve, research, and exhibit artifacts, photographs, documents, regalia, and other collections that tell the story of the Shriners, their philanthropic mission, and their lasting impact on Southern California and beyond. Through partnerships with educators, historians, museum professionals, students, and volunteers, the project is creating a permanent educational and cultural resource that will ensure these stories are preserved and shared with future generations.

The Shriners Museum is a landmark collaboration between the Shriners, the University of Southern California (USC), and the ISET Agency to preserve, interpret, and share more than a century of Southern California civic, fraternal, cultural, and philanthropic history. Working with artifacts, photographs, historic records, architectural drawings, publications, and archival collections from the historic Shriners vaults, students will help build a museum from the ground up while working alongside museum professionals, historians, faculty, and community leaders. Each cohort contributes to a different aspect of museum development, with every discipline working together to create a permanent educational and cultural institution.
